World Rice Statistics World rice production in 2007 was approximately 645 million t. At least 114 countries grow rice and more than 50 have an annual production of 100,000 t or more. Asian farmers produce about 90% of the total, with two countries, China and India, growing more than half the total crop. World rice statistics (WRS) presents comprehensive time series data related to rice. Data on rice production, trade, consumption, inputs, prices, and other related information are compiled from international and national statistical sources, personal communications, and from responses to questionnaires sent by IRRI's Social Sciences Division.
